At DIY Gem, every loose stone in our inventory undergoes a comprehensive 80-point quality inspection. This standard ensures consistency, accuracy, and transparency across every order.

Our inspection covers seven categories totaling 80 checkpoints. Every stone must pass ALL applicable points before it ships.

Quality inspection process

1. Cut & Proportion Analysis (18 Points)

  1. Table percentage within ideal range
  2. Crown angle within tolerance
  3. Pavilion depth within ideal range
  4. Total depth percentage within standards
  5. Girdle thickness – balanced
  6. Culet condition – intact and centered
  7. Facet symmetry – no misalignment
  8. Polish quality – no scratches
  9. Proportion ratio for maximum light return
  10. Star facet length consistency
  11. Lower half facet alignment
  12. No windowing or extinction
  13. No fish-eye effect
  14. Culet centered check
  15. Crown height consistency
  16. Pavilion facet angle uniformity
  17. Girdle facet alignment
  18. Light performance assessment

2. Clarity Assessment (14 Points)

  1. Loupe-clean at 10x magnification
  2. Eye-clean standard

Acceptance Criteria

A stone passes only if it meets ALL applicable checkpoints. Failed stones are: Rejected, Re-graded, or Re-cut. This standard applies to every stone in our inventory.
