How Our Lab-Created Gemstones Are Made โ From Crystal Growth to Precision Finish
Science Meets Craftsmanship
Lab-created gemstones are real gemstones โ they share the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as their mined counterparts. The only difference? They are grown in controlled laboratory environments using advanced crystal growth technology, ensuring exceptional quality, traceability, and environmental responsibility.
Every gemstone we sell begins as a tiny seed crystal and undergoes a precise transformation through one of these advanced processes:

๐ CVD
Chemical Vapor Deposition
Best for: Lab-Grown Diamonds
A thin diamond seed is placed in a vacuum chamber filled with carbon-rich gases (methane and hydrogen). The gases are heated to extreme temperatures, breaking them apart. Carbon atoms rain down onto the seed, crystalizing layer by layer into pure diamond.
Key benefits:
- Produces Type IIa diamonds โ the purest grade
- Excellent control over color and clarity
- Lower environmental impact than mining
- D, E, F color grades achievable
Process: 4-8 weeks per batch | Temperature: 800-1,200ยฐC

๐ฅ HPHT
High Pressure High Temperature
Best for: Lab-Grown Diamonds
A diamond seed is placed inside a metal alloy chamber with carbon source material. The chamber is subjected to extreme pressure (over 1.5 million PSI) and high temperature, mimicking the natural diamond formation conditions deep within the Earth. The carbon melts and reforms around the seed, growing into a rough diamond crystal.
Key benefits:
- Faster growth than CVD
- Produces high-clarity stones
- Can produce fancy colored diamonds
- Industry-standard, time-tested method
Process: 2-4 weeks per batch | Pressure: 5-6 GPa
Lab-Created Colored Gemstone Growth
๐งช Czochralski (Pull) Method
For: Ruby, Sapphire, Alexandrite
Raw materials are melted in a crucible at over 2,000ยฐC. A seed crystal is dipped into the molten material and slowly pulled upward while rotating. The material crystallizes onto the seed as it rises, forming a large single-crystal boule that is later sliced into gemstone rough.
This method produces flawless boules of consistent color โ ideal for precision-cut gemstones.
Growth rate: 1-10 mm/hour | Purity: 99.99%
๐ Flux Growth Method
For: Emerald
A seed crystal is placed in a platinum crucible with flux materials (metallic oxides) and natural emerald components. The mixture is heated until molten, then slowly cooled over several months. As the temperature drops, emerald crystallizes onto the seed โ replicating natural formation but in a controlled environment.
Flux-growth emeralds have the same inclusions and growth patterns as natural emeralds.
Growth cycle: 2-6 months | Temperature: 800-1,000ยฐC
From Rough to Finished Gemstone
After growth, every gemstone goes through our rigorous finishing process

โ๏ธ 1. Cutting & Shaping
Rough material is carefully sawn and shaped into the desired outline (Round, Oval, Cushion, etc.) by precision diamond-edged saws.
๐ท 2. Faceting
Expert cutters apply 57-58 precise facets at specific angles for maximum brilliance and fire. Each facet is measured to within 0.5ยฐ accuracy.
๐ฌ 3. Polishing
Each stone is polished to a mirror finish using progressively finer diamond compounds โ achieving near-perfect surface smoothness.
๐ 4. Grading
Every stone is inspected for color, clarity, cut quality, and carat weight. Graded against industry standards before listing for sale.
โ 5. Quality Check
Final inspection by our quality team. Stones must pass visual inspection, measurement verification, and weight confirmation.
๐ฆ 6. Ready for You
Each finished gemstone is individually packaged with its specification details, ready for worldwide shipping.
Lab-Created vs. Mined โ What’s the Difference?
Lab-Created โ
- Identical chemical & physical properties
- Environmentally sustainable
- Ethical, conflict-free origin
- More inclusions-free (cleaner)
- More affordable (40-80% less)
- Consistent quality batch-to-batch
- Fully traceable supply chain
Mined โ๏ธ
- Same chemical & physical properties
- High environmental disruption
- Risk of conflict origin
- Natural inclusions and flaws
- Premium pricing
- Variable quality
- Harder to trace origin
“Every lab-created gemstone is a real gemstone. The only difference is its origin.”
